Melissa Hong, DPM

Dr. Melissa Hong completed a comprehensive training residency in forefoot and rearfoot reconstructive surgery at Loyola Medical Center and the Edward Hines VA Hospital after graduating from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL. She completed her undergraduate education at Indiana University in Bloomington where she held various leadership roles in medical and academic honor societies. She participated in clinic research studies during her time at IU and Loyola University and prides herself in remaining abreast of the newest advances in podiatric care.

Dr. Hong's area of interest include diabetic limb salvage/wound care, trauma/fracture management, and foot/ankle sports medicine related issues. She also is knowledgeable in the latest treatment options for common foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis, pedal warts, ingrown toenails, metatarsalgia, and tinea pedis (athlete's foot). While attending Medical School she founded the Podiatric Education Awareness Program for children.

As a new resident of Crystal Lake with her husband James who is also a Podiatric Physician, Dr. Hong maintains an active presence in the community by volunteering at health fairs and educational seminars. Her practice philosphy is grounded in science, and she believes that the key to quality healthcare lies in the communication of medical knowledge. She considers herself a podiatric physician and teacher, always striving for medical/surgical excellence while remaining sensitive to her patient's needs.
